The family that owns Peter Island is committed to preserving paradise. As such, only 300 of the island’s 1,800 acres have been developed, including a five-mile loop offering breathtaking views of the resort and the island that surround it. In addition, a reverse osmosis water purification plant and the first windmill generators in the British Virgin Islands were installed to minimize the island’s carbon footprint.
The air is sweeter on Peter Island. The morning is brighter. Breakfast starts you thinking about lunch. And lunch gets you thinking about dinner. The water is the perfect blue and the perfect temperature. The sand is like sugar between your toes. Swimming in the sea brings you back to life. And the drink you have poolside is nothing short of spectacular.
You can sail, snorkel, scuba, hike, bike, take yoga classes or play basketball or tennis day or night. You can paddleboard, kayak or take a day trip to one of the other incredible islands, reefs or attractions nearby. You can organize a dive trip to the wreck of the Rhone – considered one of the Caribbean’s top dives – through Peter Island’s own Paradise Watersports. You can lie back in one of Peter Island’s trademark hammocks and stare across the turquoise water at Dead Chest Island, the island where the pirate Blackbeard marooned his crew, inspiring the lyrics, “Fifteen men on the dead man’s chest– Yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum.” Or you can do absolutely nothing at all.
With a swimming pool, hiking, biking, a 24-hour fitness center, beach volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, the sun isn’t the only thing on Peter Island that will make you sweat. Complimentary morning yoga is also offered Sunday - Thursday at 9:30 am, in the Tranquility Garden at the spa.
